Supporting Artisans of Antakya, One Piece At A Time.
Craft Antakya was initiated to support artisans affected by the February 6, 2023 earthquake in Hatay, Turkey.
Antakya has a rich heritage of textile production, specializing in the hand-woven fabrics from silk, cotton and linen. Following the earthquake, many of the weavers were displaced from their homes, families, and workplaces. To support these artisans, we are selling their existing stock of woven textiles, with all proceeds going towards securing a working space and providing them with the necessary looms to continue their craft in their new locations. We want to establish long-lasting and sustainable partnerships that will have a positive impact on the economic and social development of Antakya.
Our goal is to preserve this unique cultural tradition and to support the weavers in rebuilding their lives and communities. We invite you to join us in this effort by purchasing their handmade textiles, which not only provide a tangible benefit to the weavers, but also serve as a beautiful and authentic representation of Antakya’s cultural heritage.
