Craftsmanship have always been at the forefront in Antakya.

Antakya is renowned for its generations-long tradition of silk farming and the crafting of fabrics and peshtemals on handlooms.

The workshops dedicated to these age-old crafts in Hatay faced the risk of extinction due to the destruction of their premises and the displacement of artisans following the earthquake.

Many women earned their livelihoods by rearing silkworms at home and weaving silk and peshtemals on looms, thereby both preserving their traditions and supporting their families.

Following the earthquake, we visited Antakya, discovering that many artisans had managed to salvage a significant portion of their product stocks. turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
